20Fathoms Coworking Space Features Art by Lindy Bishop

By 20Fathoms

Lindy Bishop’s paintings feature landscapes and life in small town communities from the Grand Traverse Region to Africa. Right now, you can find her work exhibited throughout the 20Fathoms coworking space in Traverse City.

“Lindy’s paintings look awesome hanging in our office,” said Maria Purvis, 20Fathoms Engagement Manager. “Our members are loving the bright colors and additional beauty it brings to the space.”

Based in Traverse City and inspired by the beauty of land and water, Lindy seeks to connect culture and countries through art. She shared these comments about her partnership with 20Fathoms:

“I said yes to the opportunity to display my work at 20Fathoms because I admire the entrepreneurial spirit and energy in this space. My paintings are about celebrating the land, what it grows and how it feeds us. Sometimes that takes me into subjects of music, local brews, and normal people doing extraordinary things because they are here in northern Michigan – and it feeds them. I believe my role as an artist in rural America is to cross-pollinate with other cultures, communities, art and artists of all forms, youth and technology. Having worked and traveled in Uganda, South Africa, and Costa Rica, I see a movement percolating, similar to American Regionalism which grew out of the Great Depression— but less realistic and more global—Globalism. That’s what I want to be a part of. My aim is to inject a distinctive, engaging energy in my work. I’m inspired by artists Wayne Thiebaud and David Hockney who anchor me. I don’t think art has to be happy to be good, but I want mine to be both.”

All of Lindy’s paintings at 20Fathoms are available for purchase with prices starting at $300. Lindy has generously agreed to donate a percentage of the sales to 20Fathoms to support the organization’s work to advance tech entrepreneurship in the Grand Traverse Region.
