20Fathoms is pleased to announce a new exhibition of local artwork at their coworking space, featuring the work of Justin Shull.

“The thing I appreciate about coworking spaces is the diversity of folks and the shared enthusiasm for community,” said Justin. “As an artist, I also deeply appreciate entrepreneurial spirit, experimentation, and creative thinking, I couldn’t think of a better place to share my work with a community of like-minded folks!”

All of Justin’s paintings at 20Fathoms are available for purchase with prices starting at $250. Justin has generously agreed to donate a percentage of the sales to 20Fathoms to support the organization’s work to advance tech entrepreneurship in the Grand Traverse Region.

About the Artist

Justin and his wife moved to Traverse City four years ago after spending several years living in California. After graduating with an MFA in Visual Art from Rutgers, he worked for a video game startup as a project manager. His pieces are a mixture of plein air and studio, as well as prints made from digital drawings.

“My paintings primarily depict outdoor environments that we have played some part in shaping, and which shape us in return,” said Justin. “They often feature the human infrastructures that facilitate the transportation of people, physical goods, energy, and data, set against the organic growth of trees and plants negotiating their own presence in these spaces. The spaces I depict are often a juxtaposition of passage and occupancy: places that are meant to be moved through and yet also become places of residence.”

Meet Justin at our Artist’s Showcase at Beer30 on Thursday, May 26, from 4 – 6 pm.
