20Fathoms is pleased to announce that Brittany VanderBeek has joined the organization as Director of Development & Community Engagement. In this role, Brittany will work with donors and supporters throughout our community to strengthen 20Fathoms’ programs that advance tech and entrepreneurship in the Grand Traverse Region.

“I’m looking forward to connecting those passionate about innovation and entrepreneurship with all of the exciting new initiatives that 20Fathoms is bringing to our community,” said Brittany.

Brittany previously served as Impact Manager at Hagerty where she managed impact strategy, sustainability/ESG initiatives, corporate giving, and the employee volunteer program. She is passionate about championing business as a force for good – for people, the community, and the environment – and spent the early part of her career in sustainability consulting at BrownFlynn and then joined Michelin’s Global Leadership Program. She is a graduate of the University of Michigan Ross School of Business where she studied business and Spanish, and also earned an International MBA from the University of South Carolina Moore School of Business.

Brittany is active in the Traverse City community. She created and facilitates workshops on Design Thinking for Social Impact held at 20Fathoms and Northwestern Michigan College (NMC) and is a member of the organizing team for the new Community Innovation Lab at NMC. She is a member of the board for the Grand Traverse Bay Watershed Center, a Creative Coast Northern Navigator for Traverse Connect, and a tour guide for Traverse City Wine & Beer Tours. She is currently participating in Leadership Grand Traverse and is a past participant in the Traverse Connect Women’s Leadership Cohort.

“There’s a lot of enthusiasm for the work we’re doing at 20Fathoms to expand opportunities in the region for entrepreneurs and tech professionals,” said Eric Roberts, Executive Director of 20Fathoms. “Through this new role, Brittany will be working with supporters throughout our community interested in helping to increase this impact through financial contributions, partnerships, and program support.”
