“Retaining STEM talent in our region is a priority for 20Fathoms and our community,” said Gretchen Swanson, Director of Workforce Development. “By serving as a matchmaker between STEM interns and local businesses, we help both employers and students save time and find the right fit while showcasing STEM career opportunities in our region.”

In addition to matchmaking, 20Fathoms also offers expertise on funding opportunities for internships including the STEM Forward program offered by the Michigan Economic Development Corporation.

For Employers

We specialize in helping you navigate the STEM Forward program which reduces the financial and operational barriers to finding quality intern support. Benefits for employers include:

  • 50% of the intern’s wages are covered by MEDC (Interns are paid a minimum of $15/hour)
  • Payroll, tax, and compliance responsibilities are managed by an MEDC payroll partner

The program is open to Michigan-based companies offering paid internships related to science, technology, engineering, and math. Technology-focused businesses are preferred.
