Sept. 9 TCNewTech Celebrates 10th Anniversary of the Local Pitch Competition
20Fathoms is pleased to announce the next iteration of the TCNewTech pitch competition, happening Sept. 9, 4:30 – 7:30 pm, at the City Opera House in Traverse City. This special evening will celebrate the 10th anniversary of TCNewTech and will include a special commemoration in addition to the pitch competition.
History & Impact of TCNewTech:
A program of 20Fathoms, TCNewTech is a recurring pitch competition supported by tech enthusiasts, businesses, and entrepreneurs.
TCNewTech was founded in 2015 by local entrepreneur Russell Schindler as a way to connect local tech professionals. Those involved at the time soon realized the untapped potential of this powerful and inspiring community. TCNewTech pitch events quickly gained in popularity, outgrowing their first and then their second event location before landing at the City Opera House. As Russell once said, “Once the word started getting out, tech and startup professionals came out of the woodwork!”
Pitch events have provided the visibility and connections to help launch numerous local startups including Hybrid Robotics, First Ignite, Stocked, Meeting Maker, Earthly After, Wave Lumina, Fractional Insights, and Blooma. Over the past 10 years, 275 companies have pitched at TCNewTech and more than $85,000 has been awarded.
A special acknowledgment of the impact TCNewTech has had over 10 years in Traverse City will take place during the pitch competition with remarks given by Lowell Gruman, Managing Partner at Boomerang Catapult and Jody Lundquist, Partner and Chief Financial Officer at Boomerang Catapult and Executive Director at Northern Michigan Angels.
TCNewTech is made possible through the generosity of community partners including Presenting Partner Celly Health and Supporting Partners SJA Solutions, Honor Bank, Grand Valley State University, the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, RJG, Inc., AccessPoint, MSUFCU, Aurora Patents, and UpNorth HealthTech.
