She works primarily with organizations and individuals to help them reach their highest potential through the practices of organization development\, strategy facilitation\, leadership\, and operational excellence. \nDr. Malone has served as CFO\, COO\, and SR Transformation leader in both small and large private equity and publicly held organizations and has worked with teams all over the world to develop strategy\, streamline and manage business processes\, facilitate\, and implement lean projects\, and create and drive operational excellence programs. Her dissertation research was focused on developing a theory and emergent framework for creating strategic capacity\, which is defined as the ability of an organization or individual to obtain its vision\, mission\, and goals. To that end\, she helps individuals and organizations create purpose and meaningful results for positive change. \nShe earned a Doctorate in Business (DBA) from Lawrence Technological Institute\, an MBA in Finance and Marketing from The Ohio State University\, and a BA in Accounting and Finance from Wright State University. In her free time\, she adventures with her husband of 25 years and her two children\, bikes\, meditates\, gardens\, and hikes. \n\n\nAbout 20Fathoms\n20Fathoms is the home of technology and entrepreneurship in Northern Michigan. DESCRIPTION:Join us for an evening of exploring new ideas and connections as we support the next generation of innovation leaders in Michigan.\n\n\nPart of Northern Michigan Startup Week\, the TCNewTech University Showdown is a fun and energizing pitch competition featuring Michigan students with innovative business ideas. Both idea-stage entrepreneurs and student-owned early-stage startups from universities across the state are invited to participate in the competition. \nThe participating students will present their ideas and compete for cash prizes. A panel of expert judges will determine the best and most innovative idea\, and audience members will also vote for their favorite. \nNew this year: Don’t miss the Startup Expo happening in the lobby both before and after the competition. Enjoy refreshments as you meet entrepreneurs\, startup service providers\, innovators\, students\, and startup enthusiasts driving the region’s growing startup community. \n20Fathoms plans to take photos and video during this event. By attending the event\, you agree to being photographed and filmed which may be used for marketing purposes. \n\n\nEvent schedule\n4:00 pm: Doors open. Visit the Startup Expo in the lobby to meet businesses and service providers. Cash bar. \n4:30 – 5:30 pm: Pitch competition. Each presenter will be allowed 5 minutes to present their business\, followed by a 5 minute Q&A with the judges. \n5:30 – 7 pm: Award ceremony and networking. The first and second place winners will be announced\, along with the audience choice award. Grab a drink\, meet interesting people in our startup ecosystem\, discuss ideas\, and see who will walk away with the grand prize. \nParking: There are several surface lots and street parking around the City Opera House. There is also the Larry C. Hardy Parking Deck two blocks to the east down Front Street.  \nRoad construction: Please  note that there will be road construction happening in the area.
